September 19, 2017---YEA, I KNOW THAT I AM NOTHING...BUT I WILL BOAST OF MY GOD

September 19, 2017

ANTIGUA

Time flies when you're having fun!!  I'm going to finish strong.  We have two hermanitas (sisters) that can be baptized this week so if you guys could, please pray for them.

Well, I've been learning that Joy is Jesus Christ and also about pride and humility.  We gave entrenamiento de Zona (training in the area) and it will be the last, ha and I gave my testimony and everything.  We are going to be working hard so we can help as many people as we can.

I'm happy and agradecido (grateful) that I've been able to serve here with our hermanos (brothers) de Guatemala. It has been such a special opportunity for me and I've learned so much here.  I've learned to know my Savior more than I ever have before.  I've learned countless lessons from my companions, my leaders, the people here and from everywhere, ha.  I know that this is the true church here on the earth.  If we want to find joy and have a familia eternal (eternal family) that we really can lograrlo (achieve) if we rely on Jesus Christ and put our faith into action.

I invite all if they haven't to go to church and see for themselves and pay attention to what they feel not what the members say or do, cuz the church is perfect, but the people aren't.  That's why they are there.  We have to remember that we can change everyday if we want to.  It's hard but possible.

I've come to love one scripture and it's Alma 26:12:

"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."

We need to give glory to where it's due...for our talents, logros, exitos, (achievements, successes), everything we have because of Him.  God has given me the chance to be here and learn so much and help many people.  I know it has happened because He has permitted it and has helped me to keep going.  I'm not saying I haven't worked hard,  hahaha, cuz I have.  But I know I wouldn't have been able to see so many miracles in my time here if it wasn't for Him.

I love my Savior.  I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that hoy dia (today's day) we have a living prophet that speaks to God with 12 apostles that are witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Amo la mision (I love the mission).  It's the best thing in the world.  I invite all who are debating whether to go on a mission or not, to go, cuz that's what God wants and that's what will bring the most blessings in our vidas (lives) and in our family's lives, too.  I share this small testimony, in the name of our older brother, Jesus Christ, Amen.

September 5, 2017---LEAVE IT ALL OUT ON THE FIELD, WHAT MORE CAN I DO? PHOTOS

September 5, 2017

LEAVE IT ALL OUT ON THE FIELD
This week was pretty good. We are working hard to help the Zone and the people in our area to progress.  I feel almost like at the end you feel or realize what you need to change, but it's like finishing, so just got to lay it all out here---leave it all out on the field.

WHAT MORE CAN I DO?
I feel like the love for the people goes up and down cuz of rejection and stuff but I've been trying to get to the point where if I'm rejected I am nice to them and leave them an invitation, so in a future day, when they are ready, they will listen.  It's hard to always have love but that's something I have definitely felt and have.  The Church is definitely growing.  I need to keep asking the Lord what more I can do.

September 12, 2017---SHOUT OUT TO CALI GRADE SCHOOL EARTHQUAKE TRAINING, LOOKING FOR MIRACLES AND WORKING HARD, JESUS CHRIST IS JOY, TIME IS FLYING

September 12, 2017

SHOUT OUT TO CALI GRADE SCHOOL EARTHQUAKE TRAINING
Ha, I bet it (hearing about the earthquake in Mexico last week) was a little of a scare.  Everything is fine here not really any damage here, we all just felt it though.  I just rushed elder Griffin down to the doorway, shout out to Cali earthquake training in like 2nd grade, ha ha ha.  But we are all fine we just felt a lot of trembling for a couple of minutes.

LOOKING FOR MIRACLES AND WORKING HARD
This week was great cuz we have two sisters that are planning to get baptized this week.  They are super great and excited.  The Zone is getting better everyday;  looking for miracles and working hard.

JESUS CHRIST IS JOY
It was super weird cuz I gave the taller (workshop) in the district meeting today.  I did it on the talk by President Russell M. Nelson, "Joy and Spiritual Survival."  I feel like it went well overall.  I felt weird after cuz i realized it's the last time I'm going to give a district meeting taller (workshop).  Makes me kind of sad, really.  I'm glad I gave my last one on something that I think applies right now and in the future to try and help our missionaries and me have a better conversion and realize that Jesus Christ is Joy.

TIME IS FLYING
I know time is flying I'm just trying to enjoy every moment and have joy in it.
Thanks I love you all so much!

ALL SAFE AND ACCOUNTED FOR
Beloved parents of the Guatemala Guatemala City Central Mission,
As many of you know, last night there was an earthquake here in Guatemala. The trembles were not very strong in our area and all the missionaries are safe and none of the mission homes were damaged.

Thank you for all your prayers and support,

August 29, 2017---IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE THE MOST TALENTED TEAM, THEN BE THE HARDEST WORKING TEAM

August 29, 2017

IF YOU ARE NOT THE MOST TALENTED , THEN BE THE HARDEST WORKING
This week was still pretty hard but you know there is something to learn from it. We received a reference of a man that wants to reactivate but his wife is not a member so you have to see the miracles that come for working hard. We were running all around teaching and knocking and etc.  Sometimes it's easy to just give up and just stop working so hard when it goes tough but a thought came into my mind right now.  Just think if Jesus would've given up???  Where would we be???  Not here, haha.  We need to appreciate the Savior but also the desafios (challenges) that come.  We need to work hard and keep going.  It's like in football.  You get a solid team that doesn't want to roll over.  If you want to win you play till the last minute cuz everything that we do or don't do can affect the outcome of the game.  My companion and I were talking about the mission and I told him about when I was playing football one year my coaches would say that if we are not going to be the most winning or talented team we are going to be the most fit and conditioned team.  And so he would run us, ha ha.  But we ended up having success.  Elder Griffen and I decided if we are not going to be the best Zone that we are going to need to be the hardest working Zone, ha ha.  We will see what happens, but I love the mission and I'm glad for the many things I learn everyday.

I hope the fam is all good.

August 22, 2017---TO HAVE SUCCESS YOU HAVE TO OFFER SOMETHING OF YOURSELF

Villa Nueva y Asistentes

TO HAVE SUCCESS YOU HAVE TO OFFER SOMETHING OF YOURSELF
Well, this week was a little hard like always, but a little extra, ha.  We put a bunch of commitments and things we were going to change and it seemed like everything went for the worst and hit rock bottom.  But like Elder Griffin is always saying, "It's just a prueba de la fe (test of faith) to see if we keep going or give up or go slack."  I feel like God has been trying to teach me something.  I've been in my areas for lots of time so I think he has been trying to get through my thick skull that I need to be patient and learn to not give up on my faith and to keep going which def applies after the mission, too.  It's hard, but everything that's good in this life is hard to get.  To have success you have to offer something of yourself.   You have to leave your comfort zone to become like Jesus Christ.  And as Elder Holland reminds us that the life of Jesus wasn't easy so why would we expect to get a free ride or not have problems and hardships.  It's to strengthen us and make us become a more refined son or daughter of God. President Markham said, "Jesus is a refining fire.  The closer we get, the more it hurts, but it burns off the unneeded things so we can be refined through and by Him."  So, I figure that is what is happening right now and we just have to keep going so God can see our perseverance.

My testimony has grown.  I know that the Book of Mormon is true.  What I'm trying to do now and working on now is to have a better knowledge and love for the scriptures.

Love all the fam so much!!
